Due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in India, the 2022 signing of the India International Jewelery Show (IIJS) has been postponed indefinitely, according to the Gem & Jewelery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
The 2022 Signature IIJS is hosted by the government-backed GJEPC and scheduled for January 6-9 at the JIO World Convention Center in Mumbai.
The decision to cancel the event was based on consultations with GJEPC committees, exhibitors, trade associations, as well as international and domestic buyers who were due to travel to India for the exhibition.
According to Colin Shah, president of GJEPC, “all the permissions required to organize the show” are all set in accordance with health and medical guidelines, but a collective decision has been made to postpone the event in light of the increase in cases of COVID-19 in India.

The Indian government reported a sudden increase as of December 31, 2021 with 22,775 new cases and 27,553 at the start of the new year (January 1). Daily cases started to drop below 10,000 cases from the end of November to the last weeks of December.
