Auction house Leonard Joel claims to have set a new Australian price record for a diamond ring.
The record sale of a 20.05-carat diamond ring for $ 1.625 million including purchase premium (IBP) preceded a 25.02-carat ring also sold by Leonard Joel in April 2021 for 1.25 million bucks.
The company celebrated 40 years of jewelry in 2021 and capped this celebration with the record-breaking sale of the magnificent diamond solitaire ring on December 7, 2021 at the last auction of the year.
The record breaking VVS2 diamond was featured on visits to Melbourne and Sydney. The emerald-cut stone is claw-set above a gallery paved with brilliant-cut diamonds, flanked by trapezoidal diamonds, mounted on platinum.
It was sold to a local buyer and is said to have fallen in love with the piece on the previous visit.
Following these two stones is a 9.67 karat diamond and fancy pink Argyle diamond ring that sold for 725,000 IBP and a 17.34 karat diamond ring that sold for 575,000 IBP . It concludes 2021 with jewelry sales totaling $ 9,787,750.
