Lola’s birth announcement
With a daughter already, Laura seemed convinced that Lola was going to be a boy, until the moment of her birth. She was so convinced in fact that she basically promised Matty that he would have a son.
“Welcome to the world my precious little Lola Ellis Johnson,” Laura wrote after Lola was born.
“I said I would eat my own poo if you were a girl, and yet YOU’RE HERE!” Already teaching me the mundane life lessons that come with being a mom – like, just because I feel something’s true (in my waters) doesn’t mean it’s true and not making promises to @matthewdavidjohnson which I don’t 100% intend to keep,” she wrote.
However, Matty was very impressed with his new baby girl.
“You fooled us all! he wrote to celebrate Lola’s arrival.
“Everyone, your mother, your grandmother, the neighbor and even the postman, thought you were going to be a boy. Already playing tricks on us. I love it! I also love the fact that I am now well and truly outnumbered by 3 beautiful and exuberant girls at home. Welcome to the family. ❤️”

Entertain their toddler
Amid the 2021 lockdowns, Matty went to great lengths to make Marlie-Mae laugh, struggling with the baby gate in the family’s apartment.
Laura got footage of Matty banging on the door, letting it bounce off and hit him in the head as Marlie-Mae giggled in delight.
And with such an adorable laugh, it would be hard to hear it too!

Celebrate milestones
As any dedicated parent would, Matty J and Laura are also celebrating their daughters’ milestones – but in the cutest way possible, as usual.
When Lola started crawling, Matty compiled a video on Survivor’s The eye of the tigerwriting “All those morning sessions are finally paying off! #wegotacrawler”.
Matty also posted videos of Marlie-Mae and Lola’s first steps, with the latter just starting to walk recently.
“Big week in Lola’s little life – welcome to the world of walking! he wrote.

Mispronunciation
Parenthood is sometimes as hilarious as it is chaotic, and we’re forever grateful that the couple caught Marlie-Mae on camera mispronouncing the word bark, using something similar but very incorrect.

Classic parental forgetfulness
We all felt for Laura when she took to her Instagram Stories to reveal that she forgot to make the girls’ hats for their school’s Easter parade.
She filmed herself struggling at Kmart as she searched for items that could serve as decorations for a little Easter bonnet, ending up with ping pong balls and an Easter nativity scene.
Surprisingly, she’s done pretty well, with the creativity she uses to run the Toni May jewelry brand paying off perfectly.
Could this be the start of a new craft project completed the day before his need, baking Hamish Blake’s overnight cakes for his own children? We hope!
