There are many casino movies that show a bit of what’s going on in Vegas. There is all the glamor, and if you’re lucky you’ll see what happens when you make the wrong decisions after winning. The online casino scene has flourished so much at the expense of land-based casinos that most young people haven’t had a chance to venture to Vegas. These movies show some of the stuff that happens – even behind the scenes, which is why viewers can’t get enough of it.
The Hangover – 2007

The best Hangover The scene of the game is when they wake up in Vegas, drunk, high and have no idea where they are or what day it is, yet Doug is due to get married at some point. They also have a baby whose mother they don’t know, and Stu married an escort while under the influence.

Maverick – 1994
Bret Maverick is on his way to a poker tournament where he intends to show off his skills at the 5 card poker game which requires $ 25,000 as an entry fee. He’s missing $ 3,000 and needs a quick top-up to get to the futuristic casino where all the action is for the night. He makes too many mistakes, wins and loses so many times, and manages to get up a number of times. It might not be Mel Gibson’s best work, but it still stands out when movies about the game are mentioned.
Uncut Gems – 2019

He runs a jewelry store in New York where a black opal is illegally shipped from Ethiopia. His business partner brings basketball star Kevin Garnett to the store as the Black Opal is brought in, and Garnett asks to keep it to bring him luck during that night’s game. Ratner places a based bet – as any smart player would at best paying online casino – on Garnett’s good match, which he won, but Arno had stopped the bet based on the amounts owed. One of the differences between land-based casinos and an online casino site is that you cannot stop someone else from betting on it. Now Garnett is losing $ 600,000. He is locked in Arno’s car and several events result in loss and death.
What makes this film so captivating is the skills of Garnett. He manages to draw the viewer into his world, where he makes so many bad decisions that one wonders if he can be saved. There are several good and extremely sad moments as Adam Sandler – Garnett – delivers his best act yet.
Eleven from the Ocean – 2001
The presence of George Clooney and Brad Pitt in this movie lets you know up front that little to no degenerate behavior will be on the menu, which we would expect with any casino gaming movie. The scene is set in one of those great casino movies set in Vegas, and these two players are ready to outdo each other in class and charm. Don’t go in there expecting all the street brawls and slurs as the players try to face each other. On the contrary, you will be treated as the bourgeois self-importance of the best players in a Vegas casino who refuse to fold even when everyone around them can see that they are unlucky.
The player – 1974
James Toback’s character in this movie makes him the banger he’s been for years. The main character is more addicted to the danger and self-destruction of the game than the games themselves. He plays Russian roulette when the non-avid spectator thinks of it like poker and other games. He is more focused on loss, starting wars with arguments and losing, although he can make better bets to win. In the end, his obsession with danger puts him in such a perilous situation since the bet could pay off – where he gets killed. The film has a 2014 remake that could never hold a candle on the original, mostly because of Toback’s talent and skill.
Conclusion
Hollywood has a lot of material for films that expose the casino industry because the industry has so much dirt to show. Most of them don’t detail how some players keep losing, but they do show a good picture of what to expect when you become a player. They are entertaining and informative.
