While traditional solitaires or three-stone engagement rings have been popular for years, there’s a new design on the scene – and this look has a very romantic feel behind it. In fact, it’s been named the biggest engagement ring trend for 2022.
The two-stone engagement ring “toi et moi” – translated from the French “toi et moi” allows two stones to sit side by side, representing each partner of the couple. You’ll find this concept extremely adorable or a little sick, depending on your attitude towards all things love, but it certainly seems to be popular, with celebrities leading the trend.
More recently, Megan Fox received a you and me ring from American rapper Machine Gun Kelly, featuring her birthstone, an emerald, next to hers, a diamond. It was designed by British jeweler Stephen Webster. The emerald and diamond are “set on two magnetic bands of thorns that come together like two halves of the same soul forming the dark heart that is our love,” he explained in an Instagram post.
Emily Ratajkowski is another famous face to receive a you and me ring, featuring side-by-side square and pear-shaped diamonds. When she got engaged to Sebastian Bear-Mcclard, he initially proposed with a paper clip fashioned into a ring, before Emily collaborated with an American jewelry designer to create her upgraded version, which is estimated to cost around 90 £000.
Other stars to get a two-stone ring include Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner, suggesting this look is definitely on the rise among young couples. However, the toi et moi ring is actually a very classic style, which became famous in 1796 when Napoleon Bonaparte offered one to Josephine de Beauharnais. While traditionally rings featured two different stones cut to the same size, designers are now playing with stones of different shapes and sizes side by side, creating a more modern look.
